Money Available for Clay County Seniors

Vital Parent/ Student Meetings Scheduled

Parent-student meetings will be held on January 24th at 6 P.M. at Clay County High School for seniors, parents and other interested individuals. The purpose of the meeting is to provide valuable information concerning funding for two-year, four-year, and technical school training for Clay County Seniors.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Students must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. (FAFSA) to apply for federal student financial aid and to apply for state lottery money, as well as other college aid. In addition, certain ACT scores and grade point averages are required for certain grants. Click here to visit the FAFSA website.

Tennessee Hope Foster Child Tuition Grant

  • Award Amount: Should cover any cost of tuition and all associated fees remaining after applying all other students financial assistance from all sources.
  • A full list of requirements and more information about the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program can be found by calling Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) at 1-800-342-1663. Information about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

HOPE Scholarship

  • Award Amount- $3,800 for Four- year institutions; $1,900 for two year institutions
  • Entering freshman must have minimum of 21 ACT or
  • Overall unweighted minimum 3.0 grade point average

Wilder-Naifeh Skills Grant

  • Award Amount: $1,500
  • Enroll in a certificate or diploma program at a Tennessee Technology Center.
Pell Grant,  SEOG Grants
Federal awards based on income that do not have to be repaid.

ASPIRE Award

  • Award amount: $1,500 supplement to Tennessee HOPE Scholarship

General Assembly Merit Scholarship

  • Award Amount: $1,000 supplement to Tennessee HOPE scholarship
  • Entering freshman must have a minimum 3.75 weighted GPA and 29 ACT

Tennessee HOPE Access Grant

  • Award Amount: $2,650 for four-year institutions; $1,700 for two-year institutions
  • Entering freshman must have a minimum unweighted 2.75 GPA and 18-20 ACT

Upper Cumberland Angus Association/Tommy Burks Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Requirements:

1)  Each candidate must have a proven interest in pure bred cattle production. Preferences will be given to an active member of the American Angus Association or other breed associations.

2)  Satisfactory academic performance in current scholastic pursuits with plans to either attend Tennessee Tech University in the School of Agriculture, or as a current college student seeking an Agriculture degree from Tennessee Tech University.

3)  Residency: U.S. Citizenship required. The Association would prefer a student from the Upper Cumberland Region, however, all applications meeting stated requirements will be considered.

Middle Tennessee Nursery Association

Eligibility:

  1. Students are those who are legal residents of Middle Tennessee as defined in the MTNA constitution as the geographic area of Tennessee located east of the Tennessee River, and west of the following boundary: Highway U.S. 127 from the Kentucky border, south to Dunlap; then Highway TN 28 South to Jasper; then Highway TN 27 to Richard City and the Alabama border.

  2. In addition students must enroll in, and major in, a recognized horticulture program at any college or university of choice.

Margaret Monroe Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility: 

  1. Declare major in the field of nursing

  2. Maintain full-time status at the college of his/her choice

  3. Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5

  4. Remain in good standing with the college

  5. Demonstrate a financial need

  6. Submit a one page, handwritten essay that details why you chose the nursing profession and why you feel that you should receive this scholarship

  7. Three letters of reference – teacher, minister, employer, or community leader unrelated to the applicant

This scholarship is open to seniors enrolled in Clay County High School who meet the following criteria:

 1.    Must be pursuing a Science or Medical Related Field.

3.    Must have a minimum of 3.3 GPA for 3.5 years.

Eligibility: 

Clay County Cattleman’s Association $1000 Scholarship is open to seniors enrolled in Clay County High School who meet the following criteria:

 1. Must have been a Clay County Resident and enrolled in a Clay County high school the previous 7 semesters.

2. Must have a 3.0 GPA or an ACT composite score of 18.

3. Must plan to attend a college or technical school in the fall of 2008.

TN Bible College

Tennessee Bible College of Cookeville, Tennessee is offering a full tuition scholarship for students wishing to take courses in bible.  This scholarship could last until the student earns a college degree. Certain Tennessee Bible College courses are transferable to Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tennessee (up to 30 hours), as well as various other schools.
